He came to the Jedis as an orphan refugee from Corellia as one of a handful of survivors from a large building fire. The child was tested and found to be strong in the force and was taken in by the Jedi Academy on Tatooine. Drex lived and learned among the students at the academy listening to the tales told by Han Solo, a visiting friend of Master Skywalker. (It didn't hurt that Han also happen to be Corellian either...) Drex was always mindful of his place as a Padawan Learner, but knew that one day he would gain Jedi Knight status and be able to adopt the appearance of his favorite hero. The day came when the council decided that Drex was ready to become a Padawan, the decision was handed down and Drex was introduced to Kae' Caballa, a young Knight who would train him in the ways of the force and the one Jedi prophesied to bring about the downfall of the Sith order. Drex wasn't sure what to think of this situation and decided that he would try to make the best of the whole ordeal. As it turned out the situation was something of a nightmare for the young Corellian who found himself drug all over the known (and sometimes unknown...) universe by his wayward Master as he was taught the very skills that would later save his life. Did Drex want to fight the designates on Maltus-5? No. Did he want to go to that god-forsaken backwater planet Earth and have to deal with brightly colored clowns as they fought off a multitude of Sith and Imperial troops? No. Did he want to watch Rodian porn while riding around the universe stopping evil, protecting the weak and defending those in need of justice? HELL YEAH! A funny thing happen on the way through being a Padawan, Drex found that he could be his own person and when he became a Jedi Knight (only after helping to take down Palpatine in Luke Skywalker's clone body and destroying Darth Treymane once and for all!) and decided to forgo the robes and become his own person. Drex continued working with Kae' learning as much as he could and eventually the two parted company with Drex taking Kae's young brother Strom as his Padawan. |
