His race was the first race to evolve on the planet and he might not have ever ventured from his home world if not for the geothermal eruptions that threatened to make the planet uninhabitable. The Proteans discovered that eruptions deep within the oceans were turning the water into poison and worse yet it was creating new life, life forms that as it turned out where mindless creatures who frequently attacked the Proteans. It was further discovered that the toxicity of the oceans was something that these creatures could use as a natural attack. It was decided that leaving their planet was an option, while some chose to stay, the bulk of the population fled to the stars. They made contact with the Vulcans and were invited to live among them. It was on Vulcan that Tuval grew up. It seemed that the Vulcan logic and discipline helped perfect the protean abilities to some degree. Tuval grew up among Vulcans and was so good at mimicking their mindset and appearance that many of his friends believed him to be one until it was revealed otherwise during a trip to Maltus-5. |
