Bio:
Born on the Core World of Aaeton, Velena Crislys's unique talents were noticed at an early age when she scored remarkably high results in various IQ tests and proficiency exams. This garnered her the attention of several select educational institutions who offered to place her in a program that would enhance and expand her talents. Velena's father, who was in poor health, agreed to let his daughter enter the educational system to be cared for as he was no longer able to, but only with the provision that she would be around other Lorrdian children.
For the next ten years she studied rigorously at an exclusive private school under the tutelage of an older Lorrdian instructor who continued to teach her the ways of her people and how to read another's body language and the fine art of mimicry. Gaining high marks in all of her classes, she excelled but found the tedium of the educational system unbearable. Finally, upon turning fourteen standard years old, she was recruited by a high-ranking senator named Tagget and given a position as a junior aide on his staff. Much to her surprise, the senator turned out to be a manipulative. twisted individual and began using Velena's Lorrdian talents to read the reactions and body language of opposing senators in order to crush their policies and reputations. While disgusted at this turn of events, Velena could not deny the elation she felt when carrying out the senators requests- a definite shift from the life she expected and what she was used to. However, upon turning sixteen Tagget gave her a new assignment- she was to become a consort for a rival senator and produce evidence of his deviant behavior.
Appalled at the request, Velena refused but Tagget warned her that with his influence he could easily have her blacklisted and her life ruined. Reluctantly, Velena agreed- and thus began the lowest point of her life. Eighteen months passed, and Velena jumped from bedchamber to bedchamber of various senators, using her skills and looks to assess what their desires were and feeling like little more than a puppet on Tagget's string. She was nearly at the end of her rope, when she was approached by a young woman who offered her a chance to get back at Tagget. The young woman was Melik Feri'zna, a bounty hunter for House Renliss, pursuing a bounty that had been placed on Senator Tagget by the family of a senator he'd ruined years back. Melik had been unable to get close to Tagget, and offered to split the bounty with Velena if she helped. Velena jumped at the chance, and one night called on Tagget at his private residence and proceeded to infiltrate his home and disable his security systems under the guise of seducing him. Melik was able to capture Tagget and kept up her end of the bargain, but Velena, feeling a rush of excitement unlike any before from the nights events, waved her portion of the considerable bounty for an opportunity to become a hunter. Melik agreed to introduce Velena to Jalindas Renliss and Gratina Renliss, the leaders of House Renliss.
The meeting went well and Velena was invited into the Guild with open arms. They paired her with a young woman named Janildakara, who taught Velena how to concoct some rudimentary intoxicants and narcotics that would render various species unconscious or that can kill them outright.
Using her brains, natural beauty and ability to read body language and emotions, Velena discarded her last name and began her bounty hunting career, and in just a few short years rocketed to the top of House Renliss as one of their elite hunters. Her standard operating procedure is generally to choose male targets, usually human or near-human, analyze their likes and dislikes and then alter her appearance as much as possible and adopt physical cues that will endear her to the target. Then, after engaging the target, she will generally lure them into a secluded location and administer an intoxicant, rendering them unconscious and helpless at which point she will bind them (or execute them- she's shown she is not above killing a bounty unless the posting specifies otherwise) and call for House Renliss assistance in the transfer of the merchandise.
While other hunters may balk at Velena's methods, her record stands for itself. By preying on the vanity and ego of her targets she is able to neutralize and apprehend them generally with little or no violence necessary. Still, she does have some basic training in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship and carries a small hold-out blaster on those rare occasions that she requires a sidearm.

Velena's Necklace

Type: Custom Toxin-Dispensing Necklace
Scale: Character
Skill: N/A
Ammo: 3 Doses
Damage: Victim must make a Difficult Willpower roll or fall unconscious for 1d6 hours (per dose)

Capsule: Concocted from a rare plant extract found only on a handful of jungle worlds, this neurotoxin works on most humanoid species quickly. Velena keeps three doses stored in a common looking necklace with a black base beset with a glittering gold gemstone. By pressing and releasing the gemstone, a small needle-thin injector springs from the bottom of the necklace- this can either be used to inject the toxin directly into the skin, or, if the button is held down, will dispense one single dose that can be squirted into a victims drink or food.
