Lightsaber Combat
The rule books seem to leave plenty of room for this
particular part of being Jedi.Sometimes it is possible for a
GM to get bogged down in minute detail and
impossible manuevers dreamed up by his lightsaber
swinging Jedi.
To help me alleviate this problem and
streamline the lightsaber combat, I came across and
use some combat rules written by one Mr. Travis Stout.
In Mr. Stout's rules He basically engineers the rules
to include maneuvers and difficulties for each
maneuver. There are offensive manuevers as well as
defensive manuevers. Every time a Jedi increases his
lightsaber skill and has a teacher to teach him he can
learn one maneuver.
This can add dimension to the game
and gives over description of events to the Gamemaster
instead of two or more gamers standing and acting out
their maneuvers. It is important to establish that the
maneuvers in the rules are the only ones allowed. If
you can do this it will make lightsaber combat more
streamlined, fluid and not take the whole game
session.
Unfortunately, Mr. Stout's rules can no longer be found on the internet (to my knowledge). If anyone has information on where they can now be found, or, if they can provide them, please contact the webmaster of this site.
