Kaadu Injured in Sloppy Race at Oceanside Downs

Oceanside Downs, New Specter Bay:
Race #1:
It was a wet rainy day as the torrential rainstorms pounded the field making for a very muddy turf. Mount favorite YT-Kaad started off the race strong, showing surprising versatility on both turf and water. However, favor was not with this Kaad as Sentinel Soldier pulled out to take the lead-until a nasty spill by Parting Wayz, who was sporting a jockey substitute (n. Frenter) who had pulled even with Sentinel Soldier, wiped both of the mounts out.
This opened up and opportunity for Lady Likes the Lotus to pull ahead maintain a lead that enabled the mount to win the race. Crystal is the Life, who many expected to do poorly made a strong showing and Placed, with Loralees Hope, Corporate Takeover, Yt-Kaad, Parting Wayz and Sentinel Soldier rounding out the rest of the field.

WIN- Lady Likes The Lotus
PLACE- Crystal is the Life
3rd: Loralees Hope
4th: Corporate Takeover
5th: YT-Kaad
6th: Parting Wayz
7th: Sentinel Soldier

Race # 2
This race saw a more evenly matched field, but due to the recent deluge the turf part of the track was a mess, and, as we saw in the first race, anything can happen in these kinds of conditions.
Bay Bay Baby started strong and took and early lead, followed by Enter to Win and Goodnight Oola. As they hit the water tanks, Flows Like Wine pulled ahead out of nowhere, as jockey t.Hawn pressed the mount to its fullest potential. Coming back out and onto turf, Flows like Wine enjoyed a solid lead, followed by Rogue Squakin and Sunburst Heatwave. Suddenly, Rogue Squakin’ hit a patch of bad turf and went down-hard.
Adjusting to this misfortune, Sunburst Heatwave pulled ahead into second, followed close by Goodnight Oola and Ruff Nite Rider!
Into the stretch Sunburst Heatwave edged out Flows Like Wine to take the lead. Then it was Ruff Nite Rider and Goodnight Oola, the two underdogs neck in neck as they passed a stunned Flows Like Wine. A bit of sad news as Rogue Squakin’ had to be carted from the field-no word yet as to her status and if she will return to the sport.
***OR BE POUNDED INTO STICKY PASTE! YAHHH!- Hackmaster Joz***

WIN- Sunburst Heatwave
PLACE- Ruff Nite Rider
3rd: Flows Like Wine
4th: Bay Bay Baby
5th: Enter to Win
6th: Goodnight Oola
7th: Rogue Squakin’ (INJURY)

An Argument for a 4th Thunderball Division

Recently word has been passed around about a fourth Thunderball Division. Some are for the idea, some are strongly against. With all of this controversy and strife, you just know old Kabu-Si had to get in on the discussion.
A fourth BXTL Division would be a great idea. Why? Profits! Adding another eight teams to this fantastic league would not only reduce the number of teams currently on the franchise waiting list, but would increase the ability for many smaller communities to bring in profits that would assist in helping renovate their cities. Why should Thunderball be ruled by the “old guard?” Why should only a select few be allowed to field teams. Now, I know some of you might argue that the emergence of the Convicts and the Nightmares into the BXTL is a sign of the league demonstrating that ANYONE can join, but this is just so much corporate maneuvering. If the BXTL lets in a few outsiders, or, even better, an outsider (can anyone say Reapers?) escalate themselves into the hallowed halls of the elitist Division 1, then the populace of this fine planet is duped into believing that brotherhood and fair play is the order of the day in the BXTL.
I call for a fourth league, and furthermore, I request, nay DEMAND that cities such as Scuttlers Point, Specter Falls, and others be given first consideration when franchise rights are granted. It is time to stop looking back a century and a half into our past and begin looking to the BXTL’s future. That’s how EYE sees it anyway.
