While a slightly larger vessel than the famous HT-2200 from Corellian Engineering Corp., the LT-2100 tried to capitalize on the 2200’s design, hoping to avoid some of the missteps made by the CEC in their endeavor. The 2100, manufactured by Tannhauser Shipyards, improved upon this design by upgrading the power generator, replacing the drive system with a much more powerful engine and designing the weapons systems so that they could be easily upgraded.
In addition, the LT-2100 was designed so that it’s two massive cargo holds, which bore the similar characteristics of independent environmental controls, could be detached and jettisoned in case of an attack or in the event a pilot needed to move quickly to evade capture. This proved attractive to those ship captains who worked hard to avoid “imperial entanglements”- better to drop one’s cargo and escape than to have your crew and entire ship captured and confiscated (in most cases at least). Given this option, some shrewd captains outfitted one of their cargo holds with false transponder beacons or demolitions while reserving the second hold for more valuable cargo-thus in the event of pursuit or detection they would jettison the "decoy" cargo hold to distract pursuing vessels while escaping with their ship-and precious cargo-intact.
The LT-2100 has seen moderate success throughout the galaxy due to its many upgradable features, and remains a favorite among spacers who enjoy the ability to transport a variety of cargo.
