The last in the line of Nebulon Frigates, the Class-Z was put into production shortly before the Battle of Endor. Afterwards, the line was ceased altogether and when the Empire took over KDY, they chose (for cost reasons) not to continue production.
As such, the Nebulon-Z Frigates are extremely rare and hard to come by. One of the strongest selling points was the reduction of the midsection connecting spar, not only shortening the vessel but also removing a potential target for enemy fire that had proven problematic in the past.
Boasting a reinforced hull that surpasses previous models, as well as a top of the line Delphus shielding system, a more impressive Fabritech sensor array and greater speed (thanks to 8 Galaxy-19 Ion Engines) than it’s predecessors, the Nebulon-Z is a highly prized starship for those that can get their hands on one. The New Republic has managed to capture just a couple of these ships and has put them to use immediately, mainly as mobile command posts.
This brings us to the Razor’s Edge. When it was decided that the Tierfon Station outpost had grown too “high profile” and its security was in jeopardy, the move off-planet was quick and decisive. The New Republic transferred all personnel to the Razor’s Edge and the Tierfon Station Commander, Perfo Kryll of the NRI was put in charge.
Currently, the Razor’s Edge moves freely through New Republic space but has been known to go into the remnants of Imperial Space when necessary, either on search and rescue missions or to occasionally gain reconnaissance. The Razor’s Edge is a temporary home to several Specops teams (including Raptor Squad) needing a safe haven between missions and is permanent home to the Specforces team Vornskr Pack, as well as 2 permanent Starfighter Squadrons, “Barker’s Dozen” and “Banshee Squadron” that assist in protection of the frigate if the need arises.
